Understanding ME-CFS

Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, or ME-CFS, is a serious chronic illness that can affect many body systems. Core features include a substantial reduction in activity, unrefreshing sleep, and post-exertional malaise, which is a worsening of symptoms after physical, mental, or emotional effort.

There is no single confirmatory test and no known cure. Care focuses on careful evaluation, management of the symptoms that affect the person most, and avoiding plans that repeatedly trigger post-exertional worsening. Cellular and regenerative approaches remain experimental, and no exosome product is FDA approved for ME-CFS or chronic fatigue.

Our consultation reviews your diagnosis, activity limits, current care, medication, and goals. A licensed provider explains the limits of the evidence and decides whether any supportive assessment is appropriate. The consultation does not replace pacing guidance or specialist care. The intake and the screening can be split across more than one contact if a single conversation would cost you too much, so tell us and we will pace it.

Do not assume that every new symptom is ME-CFS. Chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, new weakness or numbness on one side, fainting, or a sudden severe headache need emergency care now: call 911. Any new or changed symptom should be assessed by your clinician rather than attributed to ME-CFS.

Potential Benefits

An ME-CFS consultation may help you:

  • A review that starts from your activity limits rather than ignoring them
  • A clear account of how thin the evidence is for cellular approaches in ME-CFS
  • Screening that can be completed without exceeding your energy envelope
  • Questions to discuss with your ME-CFS clinician or primary care clinician
  • An honest answer, including when the answer is that nothing here is appropriate

Who May Benefit

An ME-CFS assessment may make sense for people including:

  • Adults with a clinician-supported ME-CFS diagnosis
  • People who understand and track post-exertional symptom worsening
  • Individuals seeking a careful discussion of emerging research
  • People whose current care team remains involved
  • Adults able to complete screening without exceeding their activity limits

Therapies a Provider May Consider

Every option is reviewed individually after your history, current care, and goals are understood.

What the research on ME-CFS looks at

ME-CFS is a complex condition with major evidence gaps and no known cure. Research involving immune, metabolic, and cellular pathways is ongoing, but regenerative products are not established treatment. These references provide CDC guidance, regulatory context, and registered-study information.

Start With an Assessment

Every visit begins with a consultation and a medical screening. A licensed provider decides what, if anything, is appropriate for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Nothing offered here is a cure or an approved treatment for ME-CFS. The purpose of the consultation is to review your history, explain the limits of current research, and decide whether any supportive assessment is appropriate.
No. Pacing guidance, symptom management, and any prescribed medication stay with the clinician who manages your ME-CFS. This consultation sits alongside that care and does not replace it. We will not suggest graded exercise or any plan that assumes pushing through symptoms.
You share intake information and complete a medical screening, and both can be broken into shorter sessions so they do not trigger post-exertional worsening. A licensed provider then reviews your diagnosis, your activity limits, your current care, and your questions. Only after that review can the provider decide whether any next step is appropriate.
A licensed provider makes that decision after reviewing your history and screening information. Not everyone is eligible, and being told that no further step is appropriate is a normal outcome of an honest assessment.
Hitech Regen serves Southern California. Availability and suitability are discussed during the consultation before any visit is scheduled.
Cost is discussed after a licensed provider determines whether anything is appropriate to consider. We do not quote a condition-specific plan before the assessment.
